Green Bay is a perfect 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS and three of its four games so far have gone over the total. Green Bay routed the Denver Broncos 49-23 last Sunday at Lambeau Field. The Packers covered as a 12-point home favorite, while the score sailed over the total of 46.5.

Atlanta is 2-2 SU and just 1-3 ATS and like the Packers the over has cashed in three of its four games this season. Atlanta beat the Seattle Seahawks 30-28 last Sunday but could not cash as a 6.5-point road favorite, while the score was well over the total of 39.5.

Green Bay is 5-0 SU in its last five games overall –which includes its win in Super Bowl XLV last February.  The Packers are also 5-0 SU in their past five games on the road.

Atlanta is 15-5 SU in its last 20 games and 9-2 SU in its last 11 games at home.

The teams last met in the NFC divisional playoffs last January, when the Packers routed the Falcons 48-21 and cashed as a 1-point road dog on Jan. 15. The score was over the total of 44.

It should be an emotional night for the 49ers and their fans, and not just because it’s the team’s season opener, as the team will retire former wide receiver Jerry Rice’s jersey before the game.  

The Hall of Famer, who is the all-time leader in multiple receiving categories and the all-time NFL leader in touchdowns scored with 208, won three Super Bowl championships with the 49ers over 16 seasons.

Head-to-head, the Saints have dominated the 49ers in recent matchups, going 8-2 SU and ATS in the past 10. The teams last met Sept. 28, 2008, when New Orleans won 31-17, cashing as a 5-point home favorite. The score slipped under the total of 48.5.

The Saints will be playing for the first time since their season opener on Sept. 9, when they beat the Minnesota Vikings 14-9 at home. New Orleans failed to cover as 5-point favorites and the score was way under the over/under total of 49.

San Francisco opened its season with a 31-6 loss against NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks on the road on Sept. 12. The 49ers failed to cover as a 3-point favorite and the score was under the total.

The Tigers opened as a 1-point favorite in NCAA College Football Odds and have been pounded by bettors all week, pushing Auburn to a 3-point favorite. Sports betting odds have the over/under total at 55.

The total has gone under in four of the past five meetings overall. Auburn is 4-1 straight up in the past five meetings at Mississippi State. Mississippi State is 2-6 against the point spread in the past eight meetings overall.

Auburn next plays at home against Clemson next Saturday, while Mississippi State is at LSU, also next Saturday.

This NFL season opening game marks the first time Minnesota and New Orleans have met since the NFC Conference Championship, when the Saints topped the Vikings 31-18 in overtime. New Orleans failed to cash as a 4-point favorite and the score went over the total of 54.

The Saints went on to beat Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV last February, winning the first NFL Championship in franchise history. New Orleans cashed as a 4.5-point underdog.

Minnesota is 7-2 SU and ATS in the past nine meetings. Seven of the past nine meetings going over the total, including four of the past five in New Orleans.

Minnesota (12-4 SU, 9-6-1 ATS last season) went 3-1 straight up and against the point spread in the preseason. The Vikings last game was last Thursday when they beat the Denver Broncos 31-24, covering the spread as a 4-point favorite.

New Orleans (13-3 SU, 8-8 ATS) was 2-2 straight up and 3-1 against the point spread in the preseason, losing 27-24 to the Tennessee Titans in their last game.

Houston is a 3-point, -160 moneyline favorite and the over/under total is 40 in NFL Lines and Sports Betting Odds at online betting sites.

Dallas and Houston are 1-1 SU and ATS in the past two meetings, with the last one coming in 2006 when the Cowboys beat up the Texans 34-6, covering the point spread of 13.

Dallas is 2-1 SU in preseason play. The Cowboys faced the San Diego Chargers last Saturday, winning 16-14 as a 2.5-point road underdog. The score went under the total of 35.5. The week prior, the Cowboys lost 19-7 to the Oakland Raiders, after winning the Hall of Fame Game 16-7 over the Cincinnati Bengals on Aug. 12.

The Texans have dropped both of their preseason games, including a 38-20 loss against the New Orleans Saints as a 1-point road underdog last Saturday.

In 2009, the Texans improved on their 8–8 SU record in 2008, finishing 9-7 SU and 7-8-1 ATS, the first winning season in the franchise’s eight-season history. Houston narrowly missed the NFL Playoffs after finishing second in the AFC South division.

Dallas was one of the top teams in the NFL last season at 11-5 straight up and 9-7 against the point spread,  finishing first in the NFC East division.

Pro Football betting fans may be surprised to see that the Rams, one of the worst teams in the NFL in recent seasons, have a decent head-to-head record against the Patriots, going 2-3 SU and ATS in the past five matchups. The teams last squared off on Oct. 26, 2008, when the Pats won 23-16 but failed to cash as a 9-point home favorite. The score went under the total of 41.

The Rams are 1-1 SU so far in the preseason, winning their last game 19-17 against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday as a 4-point road underdog. The Patriots are 2-0 SU, beating the Atlanta Falcons 28-10 in their last game last Thursday. The Pats covered the spread as a 3-point road underdog.

St. Louis won just one game last season, beating fellow basement dweller Detroit Lions, and finished with the NFL’s worst record at 1–15 SU. The Rams have won just six games in the past three seasons.
