The Dallas Cowboys take on the favored San Diego Chargers in NFL exhibition action Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium (9 pm ET, CBS).
NFL Odds at online sportsbooks have the Chargers as a 3-point favorite and the over/under total at 36.
Head-to-head, the teams are dead-even over the past four meetings, each winning twice straight up and covering the point spread twice. Even the over/under is 2-2 in the past four.
The teams last met on Dec. 13 last season, when the Chargers won 20-17, cashing as a 3.5-point road underdog. The score went under the total of 48.5.
Dallas is 1-1 SU in preseason play, winning the Hall of Fame Game 16-7 over the Cincinnati Bengals and then losing 17-9 against the Oakland Raiders on Aug. 12.
San Diego won its exhibition opener, beating the Chicago Bears 25-10 last Saturday.
Dallas had a solid season in 2009, finishing first in the NFC East division with an 11-5 SU and 9-7 ATS record. The Cowboys opened the playoffs with a 24-0 hammering of the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round, but then lost 34-3 to the Minnesota Vikings in the divisional round.
San Diego had one of the best records in the NFL at 13–3 SU and won the AFC West division. However, the Chargers had trouble cashing for football bettors at just 8-7-1 ATS in 2009.
But the Chargers didn’t fare well in the NFL Playoffs, getting dumped 17-14 by Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets in divisional round.
